A card reader is a device that you can to get the ID number of a credential if the ID has been removed, or is difficult to see due to wear-and-tear. At Quext, we use the Schlage MT20 Enrollment Reader. Example: If a fob's badge ID has worn off, but you'd like to issue it to another user, a card reader can be used to identify the badge ID number.
Plug the reader into a computer via the USB cable attached to the reader.
You should hear three (3) beeps!
Open the web browser of your choice - Google, Yahoo, Safari, etc.
Present a credential (key fob, card, etc.) close to the reader, or lay it on top of the reader.
Tip: You should hear two (2) beeps and see a green flash, indicating that the read was successful.
Copy the Badge ID from the web browser's search bar. This will automatically populate!
Issue the credential inside of your Quext IoT Web Management Portal as you normally would.
These credentials (fob, card, etc.) could be issued to a resident, staff member or vendor.
Note: the Badge ID only consists of the numbers before the final semicolon, and can be up to 6 digits.
